Boo! Spooky Season is Here!

I love everything about October. The spooky tv shows and scary movies, costumes and bonfires. October is so much fun!

Old Time Pottery always has the best Halloween decor and I look forward to it every year. Over the years I have accumulated so much fun Halloween pieces from OTP!

I am obsessed with these black stands and how they make this space look even more gothic and spooky!

When it comes to scary movies I personally like the old, corny ones like Halloween and Friday the 13th. You know the ones where the killer has been killed 100 times and just keeps coming back. What is your favorite scary movie? I’m a chicken and can’t handle the really scary ones.

I’m love these potion bottles from Old Time Pottery and add a few more to my collection every year.

And of course we have to have a witch for Halloween! Hocus Pocus is hands down the best Halloween movie ever! This little witch even cackles and it’s awesome!

I need spooky season to last a little longer because I’m in love with my fireplace!

Run, don’t walk to Old Time Pottery to stock up your Halloween decor!!

Double double toil and trouble, fire burn and cauldron bubble!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN YALL!!

Fall Living Room Refresh

If you’ve been here long you know that fall is my absolute favorite time of year! I love every aspect of fall from fall decor, to fall temps to pumpkin spice everything! Oh and we can’t forget pumpkin patches and bonfires and all the cute clothes! See the list of great things about fall just keeps going!

My fireplace has been in desperate need of a makeover so I am so excited to team up with Old Time Pottery and bring you this refresh! Once the holidays are over I struggle with finding inspiration for my fireplace so when fall arrives I go crazy! I personally love traditional fall colors. Red, oranges, yellows and browns, so when I found this gorgeous painting for less than $30 I had to have it!!

Another fall favorite of mine is fall plaids and Buffalo check. I found this cute little table cloth and decided it could totally be used as a faux “blanket”!

Just look how cozy this little reading nook is. I love how pumpkins and fall colors just make everything feel cozy. This little spot is my absolute favorite spot in the house. During the day the sun shines in and at night I have that little lamp (also a favorite from Old Time Pottery) that makes a warm glow.

I think I mentioned how much I love fall plaids and I wasn’t kidding, obviously! I just love how this makes my fireplace look! And can we talk about the gorgeous faux pumpkins. When I tell you Old Time Pottery has every shape, size, color or texture pumpkin you could every dream of I am being totally serious. Every year I add to my OTP pumpkin collection!

And you already know I had to add in a touch of vintage with my lanterns! Which also happen to be fall colors. I think I see a pattern here, fall obsessed much!

I am totally in love with how my fall refresh turned out! Oh and look at that precious chippy lantern that I found at Old Time Pottery as well! I wish I would’ve taken a before picture so you can see how these fall colors totally brought this space to life!

Happy Fall Ya’ll!

Things I’m Loving this Summer

It’s been a while since I have written a blog post and I have so many discoveries this summer so I thought I would share some of my favorite finds!!

First things first, let’s talk about book! Books are my favorite topic anyways so let’s do it first. Thanks to a friend over on Instagram I was introduced to Book of the Month. I am absolutely obsessed with this book club!! Every month they give you 5 new books to choose from. You can pick as many as you want or you can skip the month totally if you aren’t interested that month. The best part is the books are only $9.99!! These are new released, hardback books for $9.99!! I am bad about getting stuck in the same book rut and this has really encouraged me to read new authors and new genres. I seriously can’t recommend this book club enough!! Click my referral link above to join me!!

Next up, I have fallen in love with Old Navy’s linen pants!! I literally bought every color they have! They are light weight but not see through and they are so soft. They feel like you’re wearing pajamas but they look SO CUTE! You can dress them up or down and I can’t get enough of them. Click here!

Now let’s talk about my go to summer shoes for the last 2 summers! They are completely water proof so perfect for the pool, beach, or lake. They are seriously so comfortable and come in a ton of different colors. I also use them when I’m working on the yard, watering flowers and just around the house as “house shoes”. They are less than $20 and so cute!! Get them here.

Ok now let’s talk skin care. I have been using Good Molecules skin care for about 6 months now and it is hands down the best skin care I have ever used!! My face has never been clearer and the best part is it is so affordable! Seriously better than drug store prices! Click here to see their line! I’m posting pics below of my favorite products by GM!

If you have a large family and you’re headed to the beach or pool you need a BIG bag, well I found the perfect one. I ordered this big guy from Amazon and it is perfect! It fits all 5 beach towels, has plenty room for snacks and drinks, has a million compartments for sunscreen, pool toys, goggles, etc. I highly recommend this bag if you have kids. It made our trips down to the pool and beach so much easier! Click here.

And of course we can’t forget my favorite self tanner!!! I’ve been using St. Tropez for 2 summers now and I love everything about it. No streaks, no weird coloring, doesn’t come off on your sheets or clothes. It’s seriously the best! Click here

.

Ok that is everything I’m loving this summer! If you try any of these items let me know what you think about them!! And if you join the book club through my link let me know so we can talk books!!

Bring on Spring!

You guys spring is on its way! Last year our lives were falling apart and the world was in shambles so spring just wasn’t the same. There was so much unknown and fear. This year we are finally on the tale end of things and I plan to enjoy spring to the fullest!

I have teamed up with Old Time Pottery to bring you outdoor furniture inspo! If you know me in real life then you know sitting on my porch is truly one of my favorite things in the world. The warm sun on my skin, birds chirping, kids playing. It makes my heart so happy.

I couldn’t wait to get to Old Time Pottery and see what amazing patio furniture they had this year. And once again they knocked it out of the park. They have the best selection of outdoor pillows I’ve ever seen!

It was so hard to choose!!

Then I found the cutest little 3 piece bistro set and fell in love. These sold out so quickly because the price was fantastic at $79.99. I went back 3 weeks later and they were all gone!

Of course I had to try it out!

Every day I can’t wait to get home from work, pour a cold drink and relax!

Most days I don’t even take time to change out of work clothes because I’m too excited to soak up all the sunshine before the sun goes down.

A couple of years ago I bought one of Old Time Pottery’s fabulous patio umbrellas and it pairs perfectly with this table for days when the Alabama heat gets to be too much. This is our 3rd year using this umbrella and it is still in perfect shape.

While I was shopping for patio furniture I ran across this precious lemonade pitcher and drinking glasses. I love the vintage coin dot look of these glasses. I just had to have them!

This furniture is made out of very sturdy metal so it’s going to last us a long time which is very important to me when I’m spending our hard earned money.

Isn’t it the cutest?!
It’s the perfect size to create a cozy little corner!

I had to add pops of color because that’s what I love, so when I saw these amazing floral print throw pillows I was in love!! How perfect are they for spring and summer?! I’m obsessed!!

I can’t wait to spend all spring enjoying our new patio furniture!

While I was taking these pictures I got this shot of the sun setting and adding this gorgeous glow over the porch.

If you are looking for patio furniture, cushions, throw pillows or outdoor decor then OTP is your place! They have the biggest selection of anywhere I’ve seen. These bistro sets go fast so run to your local Old Time Pottery!

Happy Spring friends!!

Cozy Christmas Bedroom on a Budget

I know, I know, it’s only the first week of November, but hey it’s 2020 so there’s no real rules anymore right?! Plus, we could all use a little Christmas cheer right now.

When I think of Christmas the first word that comes to my mind is cozy. Warm cozy blankets, twinkling lights and cozy pillows just make my heart so happy!

I have teamed up with Old Time Pottery to bring you a cozy Christmas bedroom for only $100.

The first thing I did was pull out all of my white linens to create a winter feel. I love adding crisp whites with pops of red for the holidays.

I found these precious throw pillows at Old Time Pottery that reminded me of snow. (In the south we rarely get snow so we have to improvise!) They are so fluffy and oversized! Also, they can be used year round just by adding in a different accent pillow so it was a win win. For a pop of color I grabbed this beautiful red pillow and I just love them together.

How cute are these little table top trees?! They are the perfect addition to a bedside table, and I love that they are wrapped in burlap. You could even add in fairy lights to really bring them to life!

Next, I added in this pre-lit garland and wrapped in burlap ribbon to tie in with the burlap on the table top trees. Ribbon is a great, inexpensive way to add texture or color to a space!

We don’t have a ton of extra room in our master so I went with this little 6ft flocked tree and it added so much Christmas cheer to our room. I wanted the tree to be very simple and elegant so when I found these amazing buffalo check snowflakes at Old Time Pottery I knew they would be perfect. They were exactly what I was looking for to add a little pop of red to this side of the room.

If you know me at all then you know I had to add in a couple of vintage pieces to the room, so I pulled out my green and red lanterns.

For tree skirts I tend to use blankets, table cloths or scarves in place of a traditional tree skirt. I love the look of draped fabric for a tree skirt. Even better, it is something you would already have in your home and wouldn’t have to purchase. You could even use a sheet!

I love everything about our cozy Christmas bedroom and I love that it didn’t break the bank even more!!

I hope this brings you some Christmas joy during these strange days we are living in and gives you some inspiration!

Keto Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins

I know, I know, I’m usually all things home decor but I’ve done a little lifestyle change this year and have started eating low carb. With changing to low carb I have had to totally relearn how to bake!

I have honestly really enjoyed being low carb/keto. I have way more energy and within a few days of starting keto all of the bloating disappeared! I even started my husband on it and he said the same thing!

Ok onto the muffins. I found this recipe on Pinterest (click for the original recipe) from Green and Keto and thought they sounded perfect for a warm fall treat!

We pretty much followed the exact recipe aside from a few adjustments. We replaced the Swerve for Monk Fruit sweetener just because I personally like Monk Fruit better. (When I say we I mean myself and my cute little baking assistant.)

TIP 1: Something we learned is that when you cream together the butter and Monk Fruit sweetener then add in all the other ingredients, the butter/sugar mixture tends to stay at the bottom and not mix in. So definitely stop and scrape the bottom and then turn the mixer back on. We learned this the hard way after we were already scooping ours into the muffin tin.

Tip 2: When you are creating your cream cheese mixture I microwaved mine for like 30-45 seconds to make it easier to work with. Then I added in the Monk Fruit sweetener and I added in cinnamon to make it like a cinnamon cream cheese. This added SO MUCH flavor in my opinion.

TIP 3: After you scoop the muffin mix in, you drop some of the cream cheese mixture on top. You’re suppose to just gently swirl it in but I am not a fan of large amounts of cream cheese in one bite. If that your thing you can skip this step. But, if you’re like me then you can continue to swirl the 2 mixtures together until it’s more marbled looking. This provided the perfect amount of pumpkin to cream cheese ratio.

I baked these for exactly 26 minutes and they were perfect!! Crunchy on top and so soft in he middle.

TIP 4: These do tend to stick so be sure you grease your pan VERY well and go around the edges with a butter knife to release them.

These are absolutely perfect!! You could have these for breakfast with a warm cup of coffee or for dessert with a glass of almond milk. I am so glad I tried this fabulous recipe from greenandketo.com.

Mixing Antiques in with Seasonal Decor

Let me start by saying I’M BACK! It has been so long since I’ve written a blog post. I’m going to be honest here and say that I am way better talking instead of typing. I can chat face to face or on stories for hours but when I sit down to type things out I go blank. So anyways, I thought it was time to try this again.

Let’s talk about antiques. You guys know I love love love antiques. There is just something about the mystery in these beauties! I just sit and wonder, if these pieces could talk what would they tell us.

Antiques are so versatile. They add so much character to a space. This old China cabinet is one of my favorite pieces to decorate with. I love to fill it with our favorite cozy quilts! My dad actually surprised me with this cabinet after I fell in love with it at a local antique store. He showed up at my work one day with it in his truck, so it is extra special.

Also when it comes to antiques, the chippier the better! It is so fun to mix in old, worn pieces in with new decor. I love how this old cabinet turned out filled with pumpkins. If you feel like your seasonal or holiday decor is missing something, try mixing in some old, chippy pieces!

Vintage books are probably one of my favorite things to decorate with. You can use them to add color to a space or to elevate an item. They are so much fun to add in. Also you never know what you will find written inside! I have one that has football scores from 1917 written in the back!

Lanterns are also so fun to use. I love to add my red and green lanterns in with Christmas decor or the red and yellow in for fall. They add a great pop of color.

This little blue cabinet is a another fun piece to decorate with. There are so many options but I love to fill it with my favorite seasonal mugs.

Last but not least, amber bottles or any type of antique bottle adds so much to a space. You can fill them with flowers for spring or add pumpkins for fall. They add so much character to a space.

I hope you all love my antique tour and I hope to be on here more often! But if I’m not you can always find me in stories on Instagram under RebeccaAnneHome.

Linen Closet Organization

Hello friends! Happy Monday! Another Monday in quarantine and learning how to navigate this new normal. I don’t know about you guys but I am ready for life to return to normal. Maybe a new and improved version of normal where we don’t take things for granted like we used to. I know for me, simple trips to Target, or Friday lunches with my dad and sister will have new meaning.

Anyway, onto the point of this blog post. I recently revamped my linen closet and it has been such a weight lifted off my shoulders!! Our house has the smallest linen closet known to man so keeping it organized is almost impossible. I have tried for years to fold things every way you can think of and once little hands start grabbing for a washcloth or towel, things start tumbling to the bottom of the closet where they stay until it gets so bad you can’t shut the door. Then my kids decide they don’t want a certain blanket so they stuff it in the closet on top of the pile and it just gets out of control!

I started by literally pulling every single item out of the closet. I sat down and went through everything. We had probably 50 pillowcases in that closet! No one needs 50 pillowcases! So I started purging. I got rid of over half of the contents in the closet. I saved 2-3 sets of sheets and pillowcases per bed. Next, I went through all of our blankets and gave some to a local charity and only kept the ones we actually use.

Now for the actual closet. It had old blue carpet in the bottom so I pulled that up and replaced it with some extra flooring we had left over from the basement reno. Next, I removed all the shelves and decided to try my hand at Sharpie Shiplap! I found a board that was the exact width of the closet, got my pink (yes my tools are pink!) level, a fresh Sharpie and got busy! It was so easy and made such a big difference in that tiny space. I measured out how far apart I wanted my shiplap lines and held the board with the level flush at the bottom, made sure it was level and made the line. It was seriously so simple!!

I organized everything into the cutest baskets that I found at Old Time Pottery and labeled them.

Everything has it’s own home and it makes such a huge difference!

My biggest piece of advice is to purge everything first. You would be so surprised at how much you can get rid of to make room! It is so much easier to organize when you only keep the necessities.

I love to look at this space now and putting away laundry is so much less stressful! Oh and the hallway is no longer blocked by the linen closet vomiting into the walkway!

Thanks for being here friends! Have a great week!

Spring Fireplace Mantle

Welcome friends!

Today we’re talking all things spring! While I’m typing this, it is cold, cloudy and pouring down rain so we’re going to just pretend it is a beautiful, warm spring day outside. Or maybe it is where you are! If so I’m jealous!

It’s been too cold and rainy to plant anything outside just yet and I’m so ready for some color in my yard.

Since we can’t plant outside I decided to bring spring inside with faux florals covering anything that stands still.

I don’t know what it is about spring that brings joy to my heart. I love everything about spring. Birds chirping, warm sun shining (well maybe soon), flowers growing, trees blooming and all the beautiful colors that it brings!

Next, I added all of my favorite antiques in with the florals. If you’ve been here long then you know I am antique obsessed! Anything chippy, rusty, weathered or old is right up my alley. I had a couple of old windows and frames laying around so I added those in and I love how it turned out!

I also added in my green bottles, books and lantern to bring in even more color. Plus, with St. Patrick’s Day this month I love to add in all shades of green!

I shopped my house to create this space and didn’t buy a single thing. It’s amazing what you can find when you really start looking! Also, it’s interesting how you can use pieces for all different seasons just by changing the items around it.

For example this green lantern I used at Christmas and added reds with it. Then for spring I’m using it with pinks, yellows and whites.

You don’t have to spend a fortune to decorate a space, just use your imagination! Walk around your house and find things that you could turn into decor. I found a wooden crate that I haven’t used in a while and turned it on it’s side and filled it with flowers. Then I found an old picture that I didn’t like anymore so I used the frame and tossed the print. It’s budget friendly and so fun!

I hope this gives you some spring inspo!!

Bathroom Before and After

Is there a room in your house that you struggle to style? Mine is the bathroom!! For some reason I get a total mental block when it comes time to decorate my bathrooms.

About a year ago I started slowly updating our hall bathroom, first paint then flooring, etc. When it came time to decorate, the renovating came to a screeching halt. I don’t know what it is about bathroom decor that causes me so much grief!

When I started the renovating process my bathroom was this hideous school bus yellow with tan tile and brown grout. Who even uses brown grout?!

I knew I wanted grays and neutrals because I had been staring at bright yellow for years!

I love the beach and I have always wanted a “beachy” bathroom but never wanted the bright colors that usually go along with that theme. The overwhelming aqua, coral and fish isn’t really my style.

Then the other day I was walking around Old Time Pottery and stumbled upon an entire aisle of new coastal decor. I found these beautiful, neutral pieces that went perfect in my hall bathroom.

I like to call this “Farmhouse meets the coast”.

It is the perfect mix of wood and neutral tones which is exactly what I was looking for.

This bathroom feels so different now. Even my toddler walked in and said “Mom this looks so different!”

This bathroom is very hard to photograph because it is long and narrow but I hope you can feel the cozy vibe that it has now!!

This bathroom feels new and fresh and I’m obsessed! Now when guests come over I’m not apologizing for my scary bathroom!

Also these towels from Old Time Pottery are amazing!! So soft and fluffy!

“Farmhouse meets the Coast” bathroom is complete!

Thank you for being here, feel free to ask any questions!
